Newly Launched Broadcast Consoles Plunge Into Xtreme Sports At X Games 17

X Games has featured some of the world’s best and brightest athletes competing in extreme sporting events since 1995, broadcast around the globe on the ESPN network. Sixteen years later, the event is bigger and better than ever as witnessed at X Games 17 in Los Angeles this past July. It was the third time DiGiCo had a presence in the broadcast trucks at the Staples Center venue for Summer X, including previous appearances by an SD8 making its debut last summer and two SD8s holding forth at this year’s winter games in Aspen. For X17, DiGiCo showcased four of its newly-launched offerings for the 5.1 transmission: three SD10B broadcast-specific consoles in the hands of ESPN’s audio effects sub-mixers for Motocross, Big Air Ramp/Rally Car, and Street/Park Events, with an SD9 console for sub-mixing the international feeds. The three SD10B sub-mix consoles fed into a Calrec Alpha located in the NEP SS32 primary broadcast truck over fiber-optic cabling via MADI at 48kHz. Although it was the first experience on a DiGiCo work-surface for all of the mix operators, the experience was nothing short of rave-inducing from each.

Minnesota Church Stays On Leading Edge Of Technology With Upgrade to 96K Optics Capable SD10

Minnesota's Eagle Brook Church prides itself on staying at the leading edge of technology for its ever-evolving production and broadcast needs. In 2010, the thriving house of worship, which opened in late 2005 and accommodates over 2100 in stadium-style seating - retooled its overall technical infrastructure at its main Lino Lakes campus location, adding three DiGiCo SD8 consoles and DiGiRacks for FOH, monitors and video broadcast production. Flash-forward to the spring of 2011, and the audio team is at it again. Working closely with Audio Logic Systems, the latest upgrade set in motion swapped two of the SD8s at FoH and monitor world with one of DiGiCo’s newest 96k/2 gig optics -capable SD10B broadcast console loaded with the DiGiCo Waves SoundGrid plug-in bundle. They also added three SDRacks, one dedicated to the SD10 and the other two distributed within the facility. In turn, the two SD8s and DiGiRacks were migrated to the Spring Lake Park and Woodbury facilities. The changes at the main Lino Lakes campus had a ripple effect throughout, allowing all the Eagle Brook engineers at each facility to mix on similar DiGiCo platforms.
