Biggest DiGiCo SD7 Rig Tours With George Michael

When George Michael returned to the stage for 25 Live, the console of choice was the DiGiCo D5 Live. Now, as George travels Europe with Symphonica: The Orchestra Tour! DiGiCo consoles are still an integral part of the audio production, but this time four of the British manufacturer’s flagship SD7 digital mixing consoles, supplied by Wigwam Acoustics, have been chosen to handle the demands of this phenomenal production, forming what is currently the biggest SD7 rig on a single optical loop on any touring production.

Symphonica, as Andy ‘Baggy’ Robinson, George’s monitor engineer and head of sound for the tour, explains, is “tunes you know and covers you don’t, all re-arranged.”

DiGiCo SD10 Swings With McCune Audio At 54th Annual Monterey Jazz Fest

McCune Audio/Video/Lighting has been handling the audio services for the acclaimed Monterey Jazz Fest since the 1960’s. In business since 1932, this full service technical event production company has done its share of myriad events in its nearly 80-year history. They purchased their first DiGiCo, an SD10, and the console made its debut at the 54th Annual Festival this past September.

“We purchased the console for its flexibility, features, and sound quality,” said McCune VP, Mike Neal, “and were excited to get it out to the festival this year. The system includes the SD10 surface with HMA Optics and 3 of the D-Racks (32 x 16) that can operate at 48 or 96kHz so that we can easily deploy these stage racks where they are needed on a particular show.

Spanish superstar Alejandro Sanz has spent 20 months touring in support of his hugely successful, Grammy-winning eighth album Paraiso Express. Taking in 22 countries and over a hundred shows, Front of House engineer Fernando Diaz relied on two DiGiCo SD7s to mix this extensive tour.

Travelling to countries as varied as the USA, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica, such was its success that it was nominated for Billboard’s best live tour of 2010, yet it still had months to run..

DiGiCo Holds The Torch For Welsh Theatre

Wales is globally renowned for its choirs, but the country also enjoys a wide variety of other live entertainment. That variety is continually growing and audio systems in smaller venues now have a desire to match the quality and flexibility to those of their bigger brethren.
