DiGiCo Consoles Enjoy Success In The Philippines

Despite it being less than a year since the first DiGiCo SD series console arrived in the Philippines, such has been their impact that local audio companies have bought no less than seven from regional distributor Joint Venture.

Manila based Hx Pro Sounds and Lights is one Filipino company that has invested in DiGiCo, an SD8 being followed by the purchase of an SD7.

“Before buying the SD8, we compared all the major digital consoles,” says Hx Pro’s Rex Maliuanag. “After comparing them, DiGiCo was ahead of the game. We love the idea that we can configure the boards in the way we want them to work.”

Newly Constructed Performing Arts Center At CSUN Showcases DiGiCo SD7

After a decade of planning and execution, the world-class Valley Performing Arts Center (VPAC) at California State University, Northridge opened its doors this past January. The goal of the $125 million PAC project was to weave mechanical, electrical, theatrical, acoustical, audio visual and structural systems into a cost effective, energy efficient and sustainable design to provide a superior acoustical environment for audience and performers alike - including music, dance and theater - and to serve as an architectural and cultural landmark for the entire San Fernando Valley.

The 166,000 square foot PAC - the first and only major Los Angeles PAC facility north of downtown - encompasses a 1,700-seat, multi-purpose concert hall designed to support orchestra, opera, Broadway, film and dance, a 178-seat black box theatre, backstage support, classrooms, a 230-seat lecture room, a rehearsal and events space, and a new broadcast facility for KCSN public radio.

Da Capo Chooses DiGiCo For Tim Minchin Tour

Comedian, musician, genius. These words may just about describe the phenomenal talent that is Tim Minchin, who has just finished a seven-date tour of UK arenas where he performed with a full orchestra. For this demanding audio production, Dutch rental company Da Capo, chosen specifically for its orchestral experience, deployed a number of DiGiCo SD consoles to cope with the extensive requirements.

“We are very experienced with in-ear monitoring for orchestras and have specific systems that we use,” explains Da Capo founder and sound designer for the tour, Rob van der Meijs. “Initially, monitor speakers were requested, but the sound level on stage should be as low as possible so we recommended in-ears instead.”
